Big Four Sri Lanka
7 Days
Tour Description
An exclusive tour focused on spotting Sri Lanka's "Big Four": the Leopard, Elephant, Sloth Bear, and Blue Whale. A dream for wildlife enthusiasts.
Tour Highlights
Leopard
Best seen in Yala National Park (Block 1 has the highest density in the world).
Elephant
Easily seen in many parks, but Udawalawe is guaranteed, with herds often seen near water reservoirs.
Sloth Bear
Best chances are in Yala or Wilpattu. Yala is more accessible for this itinerary.
Blue Whale
The waters off Mirissa (South Coast) are one of the world's best locations for Blue and Sperm whale sightings.
Daily Itinerary
- Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). Your private driver/guide will meet you.
- Drive directly to the South Coast (approx. 3-4 hours depending on traffic).
- Check into your hotel in Mirissa or Weligama. These are the main hubs for whale watching.
- Relax and recover from your flight. Take an evening stroll on the beach.
Important Tips & Considerations
- Packing: Bring neutral-colored clothing (beige, green, brown) for safaris, a sun hat, sunscreen, binoculars (essential!), and a good camera.
- Realistic Expectations: Wildlife is wild! While chances are high, sightings are never 100% guaranteed, especially for the leopard and sloth bear. The journey and overall experience are equally rewarding.
- This itinerary offers an intense and unforgettable week chasing Sri Lanka's most magnificent creatures on land and sea. Enjoy your adventure
